Easy ways to boost your Ruxter site subscribers

November 9, 2009

One of the things we want to help Ruxter site owners with is attracting subscribers to their Ruxter site and messages they send out. Besides the obvious benefit of connecting with more customers, mobile marketing (especially Ruxter) is a more cost effective and highly dynamic way to connect versus other media like direct mail, email or radio. There’s also a benefit to experimenting with how you use mobile marketing and seeing what customers respond to.

So, I thought today would be a great day to start sharing some tactics I’ve seen to drive subscribers to opt in to messages from your Ruxter site. Over the course of time we’ll share more here and if you have a favorite that you’d like to share please email me with it. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

The tactic is pretty simple-my friend who runs a popular bar here in Kansas City leaves cards on the table for every patron to fill out with their mobile phone number, their name and some other non-personal information. Customers that do this have their cards put into a hat and each month a winner is drawn for a free happy hour (of limited $ amount). So far he has over 3000 mobile phone numbers in his data base.

I have to make an educated guess and say that his use of mobile marketing has made him into a very popular bar. He reaches out to his customers on a regular basis with events like live bands and other mobile-specific offers plus he stays top of mind with his mobile connection to his customers.

Very soon, we will be releasing code which you can place on your PC-based website which would allow you to enter in these phone numbers which replicates the Ruxter opt-in process of texting your keyword to 63636. This same code can be used to send emails to email addresses you have and have your customers opt-in this way as well.

I’ll blog more as the code (we’re naming it Ruxter PSI as in PC Subscriber Interface) we have is ready and released which should be very soon. It will be very easy for your web person to incorporate and as always we are here to help.

It’s only a matter of your imagination on coming up with ways to gain subscribers and we are very excited about Ruxter PSI’s coming release which will definitely expand the ways you can connect to your customers with Ruxter.
